There’s a moment when Riddick and the other inmates make a break for the hangar, and you can see Toombs’ body in the background with one of the Hell Hounds. In one of the deleted scenes, we see that Toombs tries to stop them as they escape, but the Hell Hound that Riddick befriended ended up attacking Toombs. Both of them end up killing each other, and the first shot was recycled. Also, the temperature on Crematoria is actually 700 degrees Celsius.
