268The scene where Megatron corners Sam on top of a skyscraper was done by Shia himself. Shia was on top of the tower with only a safety harness and no safety net at the bottom. Sam clings to the statue out of pure panic, but Shia’s terror is actually real considering the circumstances. Also, Michael Bay actually turned down directing this movie at first, because he thought that this was just a stupid toy movie. What changed his mind was the opportunity to work with Steven Spielburg and to make his first family friendly film. He later explained that being a non fan of the series actually helped him introduce the series to other new fans.
