208Adrien Brody was the only actor that the producers were looking to attach to the character of Jack Driscoll. Adrien thought that he was competing against a lot of other potential actors, but they quickly informed him that it was just him. He signed on to play the character before the script was even written. Also, Peter Jackson wanted to make this film directly after finishing THe Frighteners, but when Universal noticed that Mighty Joe Young and Godzilla were about to be released in the same year, they decided to pull the plug on this film for the time begin. Peter went on to handle the Lord of the Rings trilogy before coming back to this project.
