There were originally plans to introduce a young Rogue, but they ended up cutting the concept due to the fact that there was already so many characters compacted into the film. Rain was also cast in an undisclosed role at one point but had to drop out after realizing that it would conflict with shooting for Race to Freedom: Um Bok Dong. They also considered putting in a cameo from Hugh Jackman, but they had to drop it because they thought that the age difference between him and Jean would’ve made things awkward. They also didn’t want to do a one off cameo because they felt like it would distract from Jean’s journey.
