Dino Crisis 3 is a so-so "survival horror" game. It is the third (and currently final) game in the Dino Crisis series, and has little in common with the previous two games in the series, which is where a good deal of its criticism comes from. The game is also panned for its camera system, which more often than not can lead a player to their death. Eh... Generally speaking, the game isn't too shabby in its own right, but isn't very deep, doesn't have much of anything in the ways of plot (or plot development), and hardly qualifies as survival horror as it rarely feels truly scary (in spite of the significant jump in the presentation... violent, but not so scary). The camera, while it might sound minor, is also a lot more of a hassle than it should have been and shouldn't be understated.

The game takes place in the year 2548, more than 300 years since the Earth lost contact with a major space colony ship, U.N. Ozymandias. It suddenly shows up one year and appears to be heading towards Earth, so it's decided that someone should investigate it. Playing as members of S.O.A.R. (Special Operations And Reconnaissance), your mission is to check out Ozymandias and see if there are any clues as to what happened or if there are any survivors. You get your first clue when the ship attacks you and you barerly make it in alive. Playing as Patrick Tyler (who is basically the main character) and Sonya Hart, you search the huge ship while basically fighting space dinos (who aren't exactly real dinosaurs, but mutations with the DNA of some dinosaur species). Each character has one weapon which has three shot upgrades, and they also gain access to "WASP", powerful sub-weapons which are also needed to open certain doors. They also can gain a few armor upgrades.

The game's pacing is faster and fighting is more action-orientated than previous games in the series, allowing you to jump high in the air, dash, and even hover. You'll find yourself fighting several enemies at once and getting chains for killing multiple enemies in succession, which reward you with points that you can use to buy items with. Additionally, given the game's modified gameplay mechanics, you'll also find yourself avoiding various booby traps and doing quite a bit of platforming. The game also still has "continues", which are now called lifelines but act the same as resuscitation in the original DC (which is one of the few elements the game shares with prior titles). The audio/visuals are pretty good, but as you're mainly on a ship and in space the whole time, don't expect a lot of variety (the blur when you dash is a little annoying though). We have an introduction and game sample put up. Enjoy.
