Dinosaur Planet (REAL N64) BOSS KLANADACK (DINOMOD v2.4)
Hello guys, and welcome back to another helpful video. In this video, I'll be beating Klanadack properly on a REAL N64 as Sabre & Krystal in the unreleased Dinosaur Planet. This game ended up being cancelled, and was moved to the GameCube in 2001 and became Star Fox Adventures in 2002. The prototype of this December 1st 2000 build leaked on Feb 20th 2021 by Forest of Illusion on Twitter.
After my last video, I decided to get an Everdrive 64 X5! To get a more authentic experience, meaning I get to play the Dinosaur Planet ROM on my childhood N64.
It works very well! Even though my N64 is 'PAL' (50Hz), it runs 'NTSC' games at 60Hz. Which is honestly like magic to me, from only experiencing PAL for years. I recommend it for anyone who loves their N64!
For this video, I decided to give Klanadack another go! As he doesn't work on emulators normally. So I recorded it again, but on a real N64!
To my understanding, Klanadack relies on the lag the N64 produces. That's the reason it struggles on emulators.
I haven't tried it myself, (it crashes on a real N64) but there's this GameShark code that might help for emulators: 810DA130 0705
As for what to do in the video, the gameplay is the best to take note from. As Klanadack can still be a little unpredictable. But I managed to replicate this method twice, with Sabre & Krystal. So it seems very reliable.
The only thing I will say, is if he gets stuck in the wall, try selecting 'About' in the Dinomod menu. For whatever reason, this can temporarily unstick him. It doesn't always work, but it's a last resort! (I actually used it during the end of Krystal's run, as he got stuck)
At 5:39, here's the same thing again, but with Krystal! Just to see if there was anything different. In terms of Klanadack Oddities.
Everything played out exactly the same, apart from the ending cutscene, where Krystal's animations are a bit bugged.
Also, if anyone's curious about how I recorded my N64! I used a Koryuu + OSSC at 5X mode with an Elgato Cam Link 4K, recorded in OBS Studio.
At 9:34, here's the 'About' method with Dinomod I was talking about. (no pun)

In order for Dinomod v2.4 to work on an N64 with an Everdrive 64 X5, (not specific to X5) you need to copy and paste '0x8FBCD3CE=5' into 'save_db.txt' under CRC detection. 'Save_db.txt' is located in the ED64 folder on your Micro SD Card.

Things I Used:
• Elgato Cam Link 4K (https://www.elgato.com/en/cam-link-4k)
• Koryuu Transcoder: A Composite and S-Video to Component video (YPbPr) video transcoder designed specially for use with an OSSC but suitable for all kinds of applications. Using the device you can easily add S-Video and Composite input to the OSSC, or any display or device that has Component video inputs. (https://videogameperfection.com/products/koryuu-transcoder/)
• OSSC: A low-latency video digitizer and scan converter designed primarily for connecting retro video game consoles and home computers to modern displays. It converts analogue RGB or Component video signals into a digital format, and doubles (or triples) the scanlines of a single frame if necessary to generate a valid mode for digital TVs or monitors.
