Dinosaur Planet (REAL N64) SABRE'S MODEL FIXED UPDATE (DINOMOD v2.4)
Hello guys, and welcome back to another helpful video. In this video, I'll be showing how to fix Sabre's model on a REAL N64 in the unreleased Dinosaur Planet. This game ended up being cancelled, and was moved to the GameCube in 2001 and became Star Fox Adventures in 2002. The prototype of this December 1st 2000 build leaked on Feb 20th 2021 by Forest of Illusion on Twitter.
In the past few days, there's been further refinements to Sabre's model!
So I decided to give an update on what's going on. There are now three patches. Patch 1 was used in my previous video. And patches 2 & 3 are improved, with refined facial expressions. With Patch 3 looking closer to beta & 'E3' footage!
Patches 2 & 3 has Sabre's sword slightly repositioned to better fit his backpack. (You can also do this in ROM, at 0x37EEFEF swap out 0xED with 0xBD. Or set it to 0xDD for a closer match to 'E3')
The '00_0A' model used, isn't the real cutscene model, but a gameplay model (with Fox's model replacing Sabre's cutscene model). So there are less vertices to work with. Meaning the expressions are most likely not exact, but are close enough with those limitations in mind.
Patch 3 has made a minor change to one of Sabre's expressions, making it look a little more accurate to old footage. The old 0x18 shape key was moved to 0x21, and moved to Sabre's cringe face.
There's also no crashes now with Patches 2 & 3! Except for obviously the crashes that are already present without the Patch. (Patch 1 had progression breaking crashes)
Credit goes to MusicalProgrammer from the Dinosaur Planet Community Discord for these patches!

Make sure you patch it over an unpatched ROM! (rom_crack.z64): https://archive.org/download/dino_20210220/DINO.zip/rom_crack.z64
To not make a repeat of my previous video, I've cut together scenes with Sabre emoting. Or, at least the ones of major significance.
I wasn't able to record every scene, as some cutscenes are inaccessible without RAM patches. But also because some scenes are a bit fiddly to activate (or didn't include due to lack of Sabre's expressions).

Things I Used:
• Elgato Cam Link 4K (https://www.elgato.com/en/cam-link-4k)
• Koryuu Transcoder: A Composite and S-Video to Component video (YPbPr) video transcoder designed specially for use with an OSSC but suitable for all kinds of applications. Using the device you can easily add S-Video and Composite input to the OSSC, or any display or device that has Component video inputs. (https://videogameperfection.com/products/koryuu-transcoder/)
• OSSC: A low-latency video digitizer and scan converter designed primarily for connecting retro video game consoles and home computers to modern displays. It converts analogue RGB or Component video signals into a digital format, and doubles (or triples) the scanlines of a single frame if necessary to generate a valid mode for digital TVs or monitors. • Nintendo 64 / N64 (PAL)
• Everdrive 64 X5

(Firmware: https://krikzz.com/pub/support/everdrive-64/x-series/OS/OS-V3.06.zip)
In order for Dinomod v2.4 to work on an N64 with an Everdrive 64 X5, (not specific to X5) you need to copy and paste '0x8FBCD3CE=5' into 'save_db.txt' under CRC detection. 'Save_db.txt' is located in the ED64 folder on your Micro SD Card.
