Dinosaur Planet (REAL N64) SABRE'S MODEL FIXED (DINOMOD v2.4)
Hello guys, and welcome back to another helpful video. In this video, I'll be showing how to fix Sabre's model on a REAL N64 in the unreleased Dinosaur Planet. This game ended up being cancelled, and was moved to the GameCube in 2001 and became Star Fox Adventures in 2002. The prototype of this December 1st 2000 build leaked on Feb 20th 2021 by Forest of Illusion on Twitter.
There's been huge efforts in the Dinosaur Planet Community recently in trying to restore Sabre's model expressions, and the texture on the back of his head.
From these efforts, we now have a functional Sabre model with everything fixed. The expressions were meticulously redone by MusicalProgrammer in the Dinosaur Planet Community Discord.
This is because Sabre's expressions are missing in ROM, so Krystal's were used as a reference for restoration instead.
There's two models for Sabre in ROM, 00_09, and 00_0A. Plus "animsabre" which is now Fox.
The '00_0A' model was swapped in, as that model has the correct texture for the back of his head. The facial expressions were created by changing the positioning of vertices around. (In no way do I have the technical knowledge behind it, but I do understand the basic idea of how it works)
If it wasn't for the hard work of everyone in the Dinosaur Planet Community, this wouldn't be a thing. It's truly admirable from everyone who cares, it proves that these things are possible if you believe you can and give it a go.

The patch also includes the previously covered sword fixes (so no GameShark codes needed). There's also a patch for this cutscene at 1:38, which replaces Fox's dialog with Sabre's original dialog & text.

In order for Dinomod v2.4 to work on an N64 with an Everdrive 64 X5, (not specific to X5) you need to copy and paste '0x8FBCD3CE=5' into 'save_db.txt' under CRC detection. 'Save_db.txt' is located in the ED64 folder on your Micro SD Card.
