Dirt Trax FX (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
282A playthrough of Acclaim's 1995 Super FX-based 3D motocross racer for the Super Nintendo, Dirt Trax FX.
Played through all of the circuits on the default difficulty level. It plays pretty smoothly, but in the later races, a single corner taken slightly too widely can easily cost you first place. Of course, you can always exploit the game's track boundaries and drive on the rails past the hazards - that'll get you a nice lead!
The game looks great by SNES standards, but it looks pretty badly dated now - I mean, it is to 3D what playing a 2600 game is to 2D. It's absolutely crude, but it does its job surprisingly well. Even playing in split-screen it handles far better than you'd expect of the SNES - the upper single-digit framerate is a bit nauseating, but it really was pretty impressive at the time. Just do yourself a favor and turn the sound off. The music... ugh.
