Critical Path (PC) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
A playthrough of Media Vision Technology and Mechadeus' 1994 interactive movie for Windows 3.1, Critical Path.
This was done by the same guys that did The Daedalus Encounter, but it's two years older. Hmmm....
1:15 The introduction proper begins if you want to skip the opening credits. I also show the full notebook that needs to be read in order to figure out the computer codes within the first couple of minutes of gameplay.
27:18 Ending movie and credits with theme song
30:17 High-resolution background art renders and stills
30:50 Yes, this was an actual Windows error that decided that I was finished. I particularly like the coincidental explosion in the background that plays with it.
30:53 All of the death scenes in the game
33:16 Game promotional trailer that was included on the game disc
This barely qualifies as a game, but it's so corny that I couldn't resist. Apparently there are a lot of people who can't, since there was a playable version that someone came up with on YouTube.
There are maybe two dozen required clicks throughout the whole game, and the CG is all hideous - in part because the game was developed in 1993, and in part because it was done on a budget apparently much smaller than T2's record-breaking one. The acting is equally as painful to look at, but does make the game very effective at playing a farcical comedy (intentional or otherwise).
Even back in 1994 this was hardly more than a video-clip gallery - people said the same about Myst, but that actually tried to be a game (and to some extent succeeded). This one doesn't really do anything but revel in its failure, much like a dog rolls in its feces.
That being said, it''s extremely entertaining. Hope you enjoy it!
