Disable Sleep Mode in Windows
Here's how to disable Sleep Mode in Windows.
i. There are several ways to disable Sleep Mode in Windows. Here are some of them:
**1. Using the Control Panel**
1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Click on **Hardware and Sound**.
3. Click on **Power Options**.
4. Under **Choose what the power buttons do**, click on the **Change plan settings** link next to the power plan that is currently selected.
5. Click on the **Change advanced power settings** link.
6. Expand the **Sleep** category.
7. Set the **Allow sleep** setting to **Off**.
8. Click on **Save changes**.
**2. Using the Command Prompt**
1. Open a Command Prompt window.
2. Type the following command:
```
powercfg.exe /change /standby-timeout-ac 0
```
3. Press Enter.
**3. Using the Registry Editor**
1. Open the Registry Editor.
2. Navigate to the following registry key:
```
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
```
3. Create a new DWORD value named **StandByTimeout**.
4. Set the value of the **StandByTimeout** value to **0**.
5. Close the Registry Editor.
**Note:** After disabling Sleep Mode, your computer will not go to sleep when it is idle.
ii. Here are the steps on how to stop your Windows PC from sleeping:
1. Go to **Start** p **Settings** - **System** p **Power & battery**.
2. Under **Power**, click on the **Change plan settings** link next to the power plan that is currently selected.
3. Click on the **Change advanced power settings** link.
4. Expand the **Sleep** category.
5. Set the **Allow sleep** setting to **Off**.
6. Click on **Save changes**.
This will disable Sleep Mode on your computer.
If you are using a laptop, you can also disable Sleep Mode on battery power by following the same steps, but under **Battery** instead of **Power**.
**Note:** After disabling Sleep Mode, your computer will not go to sleep when it is idle.
iii. There are a few ways to temporarily disable sleep on Windows 11. Here are some of them:
**1. Using the Powercfg command**
1. Open a Command Prompt window.
2. Type the following command:
```
powercfg.exe /change /standby-timeout-ac 0
```
3. Press Enter.
This will disable sleep on your computer for the next 60 minutes.
**2. Using the Don't Sleep app**
1. Download the Don't Sleep app from the Microsoft Store.
2. Open the app.
3. Toggle on the **Enable Awake** switch.
4. In the **Behavior** section, select **Keep awake temporarily**.
5. Set the **Hours and minutes** to the amount of time you want to disable sleep for.
6. Toggle on the **Keep screen on** switch if you want to keep the screen on while sleep is disabled.
**3. Using the Group Policy Editor**
1. Open the Group Policy Editor.
2. Navigate to the following registry key:
```
Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - System - Power Management - Sleep
```
3. Double-click on the **Allow sleep** setting.
4. Set the **Configured value** to **Disabled**.
5. Click on **OK**.
This will disable sleep on your computer.
**Note:** After disabling sleep, your computer will not go to sleep when it is idle.
