Disgaea 5 - Quick/Easy Magic Extract and Shard Farming Method

After about ten or so reincarnations you'll start to notice lower and lower returns with each reincarnation. While at this point it shouldn't be hard to hit 9,999 (I can cycle a character in like a minute), it can be frustrating doing all that work for a handful of points. At this point you'll need to start looking for other methods to power up, which is where extract and shards come into play.
Now shards are given to you when you defeat an enemy in the revenge state, where as extract is created when you interrogate an enemy that surrendered. Normally this is a pretty slow process, with myself averaging 100 or so capture and a few thousand shards per 50 or so floors in item world. However, with this method you can quickly accumulate a bunch of them with practically no effort.
Set up:
Make three Sages
Have two of them master the Slumber Cat subclass
Buy and equip the evility Softening Aura (unlocked by leveling the Slumber Cat subclass)
With the remaining Sage, make sure to power level them putting al their power in INT. You also want to make sure they have the Netherworld Noble or Nine-Tails and Twin Dragon or Felynn subclasses mastered. Upon doing that, pass the bill that gives you another unique evility slot and level that unlocks the carnage dimension with the Sage killing the Prinny boss to unlock another unique evility slot. Equip those skills and you should be good to go.
Finally, have a character master the Maid subclass or level a Maid until you unlock the evility "Licensed Caregiver." This will let you use healing items over a range, increasing the effectiveness of the method.
Additional optional steps:
- Get a item with the unique innocent "hostage negotiator"
- Change your subclass after each go, since odds are you'll master the whole subclass in one go
- Eat curry to boost stats
How to do it
Start by figuring out the highest level you can effectively do. Just because you can do 9 stars in 8 minutes, doesn't mean it's better to do it that way than 8 stars in 4 minutes, as the perks per level aren't that big of a difference.
Once you figure that out, start by pulling out your Sages. Have one of the weaker ones do Land Decimeter first and have the other give your damage dealing sage Multi-Attacker. Finally move your damage dealing Sage back on the base panel, since it doesn't count as a move and will allow you to activate the Twin Dragon perk and then finally have the DD Sage use LD.
The first time you do LD will put all the Asagi in a revenge state, where as the second time will ideally kill or damage them, resulting in you getting a bunch of shards. Rinse and repeat this until you get to the boss.
Now the boss won't be defeated like this, since they have much better stats. You're going to need to either blast them a bunch of times at range or confront them and quickly defeat them. Its up to you to decide whats best, but remember that you don't want to spend all day doing this.
Upon finishing, have a powerful character interrogate them. I found threatening works best against Asagi, so I suggest using that. This should subdue them all, which you can turn into extract. As for the shards, go to the assembly and pass the bill that lets you condense them.
At some point after this, put the characters you want to power up in a cross and use your Maid or character with the Maid skills to give the item on the battlefield. This will allow you to buff 5 characters instead of one, so it's a great way to power level a bunch of people at once.
Please note, the amount I got at the start of the video was including my time in item world. Under the same settings (12 stars) you should get about 50,000~ per shard type and 70,000~ per stat for the extract. The amount you get depends on the difficulty you play, so don't expect millions if you're doing one star or the pre-LoC version.
Rinse and repeat until you have a solid team or you get bored.
