0Once you tell Louis in Broken Valley Village where the bandit hideout is (after either mindreading or breaking out the bandit prisoner), Men will be outside the entrance ready to charge in as soon as the Slayer happens by.
If you delay telling Louis about the hideout after breaking the prisoner out, you can visit the hideout and get a couple extra quests and the guy you busted out is a vendor. I forgot this and told Louis right away, so I missed out. You still find the axe related to one of those bandit quests, and it wasn't half bad though.
