Hey players, DJay here with a new longplay as we head back to the Game Boy Advance with a run and gun classic, Metal Slug Advance.

Description of the game:

Metal Slug Advance is a scrolling run and gun game by SNK Playmore and Noise Factory exclusively on the Game Boy Advance (hence the game's title) in November 2004. It is the first game in the series to be published on a Nintendo handheld system, followed by Metal Slug 7 on the Nintendo DS. Due to it being released on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance, it omits darker elements such as blood and soldiers burning to death. This is the only game to feature cameos of the main Metal Slug games, however they do not appear in-game or in person, e.g. Marco Rossi and Eri Kasamoto appear on the cover art only. The 2 player characters, Walter Ryan and Tyra Elson appear again in Metal Slug Defense and Metal Slug Attack. This is the only game in the series to feature a health bar, preceding Metal Slug 3D, Metal Slug Attack and Defense, in which players no longer become a one-hit wonder like the main games (not unless a certain card has being obtained and activated).

The events of the game is set around or after the occurrence of the Ptolemaic War that took place in Metal Slug 5, in the year 203X. This time around, the Peregrine Falcons have developed a simulated battle drill to train new recruits. The stage is a remote island in the South Pacific with very little provisions. If the recruits manage to make it off the island in one piece, the battle drill will be a success. 2 of the new recruits, Walter Ryan and Tyra Elson, must take on this challenging battle drill and fight the Rebel Army who dwell in the area before escaping the island and being awarded with honors.

Like the other installments in the franchise, players take control of one of 2 soldiers and take on 5 missions. Different to the other installments is the life guage, which depletes if the player is hit by an enemy, but can be refilled by obtaining food items (it instantly drops to zero if the players falls into a bottomless pit or if a specific card ability is active). Aside from weapons, a new feature are cards, which are obtained from rescuing hostages or destroying crates. (Some are obtained by other actions such as destroying bosses quickly). Vehicles are also available for use for protection. If the player fails to complete the mission, the player must restart from the previous checkpoint.

Are you skilled enough to survive this intensely difficult and dangerous simulated battle drill?
