Welcome back to Tunche!
In this episode, we finally take down the possessed river dolphin Boutu, and we get to step in to a new world, "The Temple of the Cat." What sort of adventures await us there? Who will be the next boss that we face? Let's find out together...
Also, I did some more research on a few things! Here are my findings:
Boutu - also known sometimes as boto, Boutu is both the general name given to the Amazon River Dolphin, as well as the name of a horrifying creature of legend. While recounts of the legend vary from region to region of the Amazon, they all speak of a shape-shifting river dolphin who assumes the form of a man, tall, handsome, and well-dressed. (In some versions, he is dressed all in white, in others he wears a hat on top his head to cover his blowhole.) After happening upon an unsuspecting village, he seduces the women of the town and impregnates them, before returning to the water before dawn. This story was most likely told to explain away unwanted/scandalous pregnancies of any kind. Despite how terrible the legend of Boutu us, Amazonian cultures regard the creature as sacred, believing that terrible luck will befall anyone who kills, God forbid eats, a river dolphin.
Piu - Piu is Rumi's bird, a bright red tunki, the national bird of Peru. Piu was created by Rumi in a haphazard experimentation with spells and incantations. While Rumi was in training to become a shaman, she did not have much time to play with the other children of the village. As a result, she often spent time alone with nature. A flock of Tunki frequented her favorite resting spot, so she often took treats with her for the lovely birds to eat. One day, Rumi came to her resting spot in the forest to find that her favorite tunki had been mauled to death by a vicious animal. Desperate to find help for the poor creature, she brought it back into the village. However, none of the townspeople were able to help her, since the bird was already dead. Thus, in a last ditch attempt to rescue the bird from the clutches of the underworld, she began a flurried chanting ritual through which she hoped to save the bird. However, she was still young, and did not possess the mental prowess necessary to successfully complete the ritual. An accident happened, and it nearly cost Rumi her life. However, when she arose from her unconscious state, she found that the bird had been born anew as a familiar. She then named the little bird Piu. In the game, Piu fights with Rumi, acting as a part of her, as she tears her way through the beasts of the jungle in order to get to Tunche.
familiar - Familiars are spiritual guiders and protectors that manifest in animal form. They often take the form of a small household pet, such as cat or dog, that accompanies/protects/enlightens a witch, shaman, or any other sort of magic-wielder. Some familiars become psychically linked to their owners over time, and can even perform small acts of magic, such as healing or warding spells, in order to better assist their human counterpart. In the game, the bird Piu acts as Rumi's familiar, keeping her company, as well as assisting her in physical combat.
I am not sponsored to play this game, I'm just playing it because it looks really fun. That and the Internet (imho) is sorely lacking in Tunche playthroughs, so I figured I'd throw my hat in the ring just because. If you would like to play this game for yourself, check out the link below:

Next episode, we will return to the Temple of the Cat, and pray (not to the cats) that we make it to the end. See you then! Until then, be safe, and have a good time. Let's have some fun together! :)
Love,
Richard
