I'm often told how the academics and historians that I cite are "biased" because they were trained and educated at universities, which supposedly indoctrinate you into "left-wing dogma", but how true is this really?

Is it possible to really discern fully whether academia is biased or partiasn and is this a problem? If academia does have a left-wing bias, then what is the cause of this development?
