Does Millie Bobby Brown really like Eggo Waffles?
It's tough to overstate how influential "Stranger Things" has been on pop culture. The addition of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" last season catapulted the almost 40-year-old song into the top ten on the Billboard charts, and in-universe pop culture allusions are frequently given fresh life after appearing on the popular programme.
During the first season of the programme, Kellogg's Eggo Waffles became the unofficial food of "Stranger Things." causing one of the early pop culture popularity surges. Mike Wheeler gives Millie Bobby Brown's character Eleven an Eggo waffle for breakfast as she finally leaves Hawkins Laboratory (Finn Wolfhard). Her first taste of the sweet, processed sweetness of American-made foods is the Eggo, which develops an addiction to the toaster delicacies. She stole cartons of Eggos from Bradley's Big Buy, Hopper places them in the woods to entice her back home, and Eleven used her talents to telepathically contact Dustin while sitting in front of an open freezer of Eggos in season 2.
During a WIRED video piece in which the actor answered some of the most often Googled questions about her, she acknowledged that waffles aren't her favourite food. "No, I don't [like waffles] and people think I do," she remarked. "But actually, in 'Stranger Things,' I had a little spit bucket next to me and I'd spit into it because I couldn't swallow the waffles because I'd gag."
