In its first couple of hours, Mortal Shell does not at all deviate from the classic Souls formula - and in fact intensifies the cryptic nature and opaqueness that series is famous for. But it does bring a few interesting new ideas to table, which do a lot to set it apart. Plus, its production values are excellent.
