What is a somewhat realistic polar bear doing in this game? And why does it make DK look really small?

Key Notes:

Boss - Bashmaster
- He likes to smash his hammer down, though it will always get stuck on the floor, letting himself wide open for punishment.
- He calls ice cubes from above to later push them across the floor towards you. Some of these have items, but some have watermelon bombs that you can use to punish him.
- When getting angrier, the bear summons towers of ice cubes before spinning into them. When this happens, you must jump up and let him slide to an edge where he will become dizzy.
- He uses a quite ineffective ground pound that causes an ice wave to spread to the sides.
- When he's at wit's end, he can smack ice cubes and turn them into deadly, spiked ice projectiles that go above the ground. He can try to trick you by feigning.
