Ever since the Final Fantasy XV collaboration event (A Nocturne for Heroes) ended in 2019 there have been people wanting to know if and when it would return. These are mostly people who missed it, but also people who didn’t want to earn a moderate amount of MGP in order get the mount, and of course those who want to get the various items for an alt. Actually, right after it first started there was a lot of "I didn't know I had to do that!?" or "I didn't know it was that much!", though there were announcements warning what would be required.

Well it is coming back, sometime in September. Probably shortly after The Rising. (Notice there is a certain reporter involved in this year's Rising event.) If you play FFXIV long enough you'll notice that short term Collaboration events tend to return, at least once, usually multiple times. The DQX event has happened 4 times. However, crossovers do not happen at regular times of the year like seasonal events. The DQX event happened twice the first year, and then didn't happen again until 3 years later.

Also, once the items from an event become available on the online store you will not see the same exact event again. So don't expect to see Lightning Strikes again, at least not in the original form with the same rewards.

So you can be ready when this drops; you will need at least one Job at or above level 50. Notice this is higher than most events. You will also need to have completed "The Ultimate Weapon" in the MSQ. The big item everyone wants from this event, the four seater Regalia mount, is purchased from a special NPC in the Gold Saucer for 200,000 MGP. If this is the same as last time this person will also sell the Noctis hairstyle and the Noctis card. The card, which was introduced with this event in 2019 for 10,000 MGP, is currently available for 200,000 MGP from the card sellers. Hopefully it will return at the reduced price.

Regalia Mount: 200,000 MGP
Noctis Hairstyle: 20,000 MGP
Noctis Card: 10,000 MGP

Total: 230,000 MGP

As for other rewards, the six orchestrion rolls are purchased with special event currency that comes from a F.A.T.E. done about halfway through the quest line. And for completing the quest you get the Noctis outfit, a title, and of course, an achievement!

So tell your friends to be ready. Yeah, I know there will always be those who will be totally unprepared, but don’t say I didn’t warn you!
