Moving machine parts can cause severe injuries, from crushed fingers to burns, blindness, amputations and fatalities.
This safety training video discusses machine guards and the hazards associated with flywheels, fan blades, machine parts, tools and other machinery that are hazardous.
Machine guards reduce hazards from moving power assemblies, including hazards from sparks or broken machinery.
Machine guards are often removed and not properly replaced following maintenance, installation or repair.
Guards are also bypassed when work requires occasional access to hazard zones. The machines should be completely shut down and protected from resuming operation until the guards are replaced.
