Doom Classic video #12

Hello. Another one in, which is actually part of a series of few levels, but separated from each other, so we're still having just one level per video.
Few reviews gave a bit of an overgenerous amount of stars on this one tbh.
It's pretty plain with many of the interiors with boxy design and few lines in lot of the buildings.
Then you had too much ammo from start, automap and mega-armor was unnecessary in my opinion.
Of course, I suppose storywise you come there prepared, so it does also make sense.
(...and you can return to the starting room at any point too)
Some good ideas can be seen in there as well.
• The level was still working towards the story, which included few custom information screens to deliver on that front.
• Multistory building with teleporting staircase to 'stay within' the same building... Working ideas with the limited toolset
• The traps...
...I'll say, that last fight in blue area was well done: You have slow lift down, where top floor blocks view to anything that's down there and you can't awaken monsters by shooting over the line.
So, you jump down to fight in a dark room, which you can light up, if finding the right corner for it.
Yellow key trap (...the door to be specific) was also unexpected the 1st time, but you can easily avoid it, when playing the 2nd time.
I did expect more, but perhaps because of the reviews. It's not bad, but the level looks very basic in lot of the areas, but you can also see more effort at specific spots... perhaps because of the worry of that era of computer power. So, I would think that it could've been more interesting, if tried to push it more.
The traps seem to take the biggest spotlight in this one. Those often came more unexpected and often had been built well. Of course, difficulty of such is always a balancing act and back then it was different than it is today, but it was a good direction nevertheless.
