Doom (1993) - Last Level (Endboss) of Episode 1
This is the last level with the two endbosses of Episode 1 of the classic Doom. I decided to replay the old Doom from 1993. I remember playing it back then on my 386 40Mhz PC with 4MB RAM... :) The game was a phenomenon at that time and together with Wolfenstein 3D the predecessor of all 3D shooter games.
Personally I wasn't that intrigued because I had played Ultima Underworld before and although the graphics were much slower than Doom Underworld used "real" 3D (look up and down, jump, fly, swim, physics system...). Besides that I'm more of a role playing guy.
But nevertheless: John Carmack is a programming genius and developed the ID engines on his own. These engines have been used as a basis for many other games and engines (like modified versions for the Half Life- and Call of Duty-engines). Doom even had a deathmatch multiplayer mode playable via modem or null-modem: a novelty among 3D games!!!
Doom made ID Software one of the most popular game development studios of the 90's and John Romero and John Carmack stars and millionaires.
