Doom and Bloom Testing Branch First Impressions | New Items Galore | Atomicrops
The Doom and Bloom update, otherwise known as 1.3, is a new beta branch available only on Steam. In it 40+ new upgrades were implemented, among many other new features. While I won’t be going over every single new thing, I’ll discuss my favorite or the most interesting ones. Assume everything I don’t mention I perceive as being fine or haven’t tested a ton.
Overall I'm excited for this new update. So many new features are coming in that will greatly improve the game from its current state. There are some things that should be changed, such as to the Motivator Tractor and the new seed scroll. But even in it's current state this update will be amazing.
I might end up making a follow-up video to this one depending on various things. If I have more to say on certain aspects that may warrant another video. In addition, if this beta follows the same path as 1.2 and gets an update halfway through I might make another video to talk about that. I probably should've done that when that occurred to the 1.2 beta, so I'll try to avoid that mistake again if I have time. Though, to be fair my video on Thyme's potential rework was sort of a follow-up in itself, but the point stands nonetheless.
I know that console users were already feeling neglected enough as is, due to how long the Invasive Species Update port is taking. I can easily imagine that following the release of this beta branch and in turn the next major update they feel even worse. But while you may have every reason to be, please do not be mad, especially at the developer. It's really out of his hands at this point, since Raw Fury is the one working on the port. And during this they have just had troubles with various things, including online leaderboards. But know that when it does inevitably come new updates will come out much faster.
Yes I did call the update by the wrong name at the start of the video. Because of the rhyming I got it backwards. I considered re-rendering the whole thing, but honestly it's not worth it for something that small. Besides, "Bloom and Doom" makes more sense to me than the other way around. But I digress; I made a silly mistake. :P
In regards to making this video I opted to only talk about the things I had the most thoughts on. I could've talked about each and every item I've found so far, but I would've ended up sounding repetitive by saying things like "This is fine." And that would've been really boring and drawn out. So I figured the best thing to do would be to just talk about what I had the most thoughts on.
Concerning the music I used, I decided to use a lot of longer songs that wouldn't fit for shorter videos. I don't know if that's better or worse than constantly changing the music, but it's a easier to edit it this way. As for the songs I used, I don't know if they were all fitting, but I'm still happy I got to use them at all.
If you are wondering why I changed games at the end instead of what I normally do, it's because this is going to be my new outro sequence. Before I struggled with a great way to end my videos, and would just end up ranting about crap very few cared about. So because of that I decided to do something more consistent. Hopefully this will be better.
