6At Doom's Gate played with the E-Mu/Creative 2 MB Rev N+ standard GM soundfont.
Creative's soundfont-compatible soundcards came with 4 Creative/E-Mu GM soundfonts (similar to how there were 3 Ensoniq ECW wavesets); basically the same "generic" MIDI bank in varying qualities/sizes...
2 MB - Standard E-Mu GM bank, includes GS and MT-32 presets.
4 MB - Slight improvement over the 2 MB version.
8 MB - Another minor improvement, however, it lacks the GS/MT-32 presets.
28 MB - Lacks the GS/MT-32 presets. I don't quite understand the point of the 28 MB version. I compared it to the 8 MB version by listening to several DOOM MIDIs and I didn't notice any differences, other than that the 28 MB version has a slightly better violin. There are probably a few other changes. Also, this 28 MB version is MISSING the Picked Bass preset! This version's minor changes are not good enough to justify the larger file size; the smaller versions are better overall.
