2I had just played through NRFTL recently, and I loved every bit of it. I remember messing around with it soon after it was released for XBox and didn't really like it, but playing through in the last month, I consider it one of my favourites. It had a good balance in pacing (with the exception of the last map, which I'll talk about when I get there), the secrets were pretty well designed, and it set up some really interesting situations through the whole set.
Map01 itself shows off some of my favourite parts of Doom's (and indeed Quake's) style of map design. It's so well-connected, every single branch to get a key leads you right back to a previous area where the door is. In addition, more than half of the map is an optional area (though is one of the most fun parts of the pack).
