Doom - Sega 32X - Stages 1-3 Gameplay sample (Real Hardware) [4K]
The first port to hit SEGA systems is the most technically impressive version even if it was rushed to market for the Christmas release and is somewhat unfinished. With the whole third episode missing as a result of development time constrains. A real shame as this could have been a truly awesome version with all the missing content included. Captured on a original NTSC/J MegaDrive and SEGA 32X with a Japanese DOOM cartridge.
Despite the limitations of the 32X, small screen size area, cut down stages, missing sprites, missing sound effects and an unfinished version of the soundtrack that doesn't sound great. It ended up being a very enjoyable and playable port that runs at constant 15 fps in the 3D area, the menus actually runs at 60fps surprisingly. Certainly it's a better version than the SNES port and arguably the dire SEGA Saturn version.
In total this port has 17 stages in total, with the only secret level being Military Base accessed from level 3. To reach the final stage in the 32X version level 16 you must finish all the levels in order and not use any cheats. Making finishing this port a bit more tricker than first expecting.
[Edit: Sadly due to a bad copyright claim from YouTube, which was generated by the company CD Baby from the 2015 track "Your Ocean" by the band State of Empire on their album Last Transmission. We have had to removed a section of the audio around the 7 and 8 minute mark. While we did contact CD Baby they failed to remove all the claims. Quite how a 2015 song can match to a game from 1995 is anyone's guess]
