In order to get back at WizardWorks who ended up publishing the putrid D!Zone, iD decided to release two products: Maximum Doom (which is over 1800 amateur WADs which were uploaded on the Internet and... The Doom 2 Master Levels.

iD contracted a bunch of known skilled Doom mappers in order to offer 20 standalone WADs to test your skills. The results are... pretty mixed, to say the least. Some maps are good, some have that pristine 1995-1996 vibe and others are chock full of debatable design choices that make you wonder what was going on in the designer's mind.
