These are people who made history and a impact that still remains to this day, Perhaps the same can be said with Doom since it is now 28 years old, It has stood the test of time like other shoots such as Duke Nukem 3d and Quake, while others like Battlefield have faded into obscurity, and with Doom's legendary status, there are some members of the doom community who have stood as themselves among the lineups of great wad or mod authors, I'm speaking today on this episode about XaSeR Acheron, Who is a well known author with the 32 in 24 multiplayer wads, One of the most active DoomWorld and Zdoom forum users and winner of several Cacoawards, runner up awards and the recipient of the 2021 Caocawards' Epsi award.
I knew well of this wad and had planned it to be one of the first 5 episodes of my series Doom Wads/Mods but I forgot completely about it, This wad, Zen Dynamics, which released on November 18th 2006 was a runner up at that year's cacoawards, It's a wad that at the time was special for showcasing how reloading could be implemented within the Zdoom sourceport, while containing 13 maps that were unfinished by the notorious Malcolm Sailor and new custom enemies.
Keep in mind, This is on GZDoom's latest SVN release, so I may not have the same experience that I could've had in 2006 on Zdoom, The overall weapons are alright but their reloading feels a bit drab today, The "pistol" is a 6 shot revolver like weapon that reload after you run out of rounds vs having a reload key, the new monsters are a annoyance such as the small orange cacodemon, I got lost and wasn't sure how to continue in map01, The mapping is solid for 2006 yes and I still think it looks good, Though I believe that Zen Dynamics isnt a everyday play, but revolutionary for what it did.
