1https://ramp.teamouse.net/ The 2021 Cacoawards showcased something unique, It was the first time that 21 Wads were honored as honerable mentions after the runnerups which were given "Silver Cacoawards", Of these honorable mentions I selected this project which I learned of from a video by TheV1perK1ller, Another Doom youtuber, The project was announced by DavidN aka David Newton calling on all new mappers to showcase their work and it was released on August 15th 2021.
Heavily inspired by the DUMP Trilogy, This Megawad is different from others, It doesn't feature 32 maps but rather a whopping 209(!) maps, Its first map is a hub leading to every map through a teleporter, Each map is rated by difficulty and listed by its author and music track, I myself haven't really played every map but RAMP does have pros and cons and I'll probably revisit it one day once I do all 209 maps.
The first things I'll say that are negative is.. Some of the maps have really questionable music or dreadful music choices, The map I selected for this video was approaching bullshit levels, Some maps have really really poor ammo placement or enemy placement that I wasn't really a fan of, On the other hand RAMP does showcase good ideas and there are some new custom enemies for the maps, I got to about map 67 but I put it off for now because I was tired.. RAMP is quality yeah but I feel it was dropping off towards quantity later on.
