Is eternal but is always being given new life in different ways.
This 4 episode replacement for Ultimate Doom is by Count651 (Derek Pierson), and Miss Bubbles (Samantha McNallen) released in 2018 with a updated version getting a release on June 23rd 2019 and was honored as a runner-up at the 2019 Cacoawards. The maps were split between Samantha and Derek and follow John Romero, Sandy Peterson and Tom Hall's design to a T with both authors also adding their own touches.
Just like other throwbacks, Lunar Catastrophe starts with a low pitch as you go and increases in difficulty. It neither holds your hand nor suffocates you with a plastic bag, Ammo placement is modest and there's a lot of emphasis on looking for secrets, I'd say Lunar Catastrophe is one of the best of the Ultimate Doom wads I've gone over in a while.
