Dorachan, an arcade game centered around the iconic Doraemon, offers a straightforward, yet somewhat peculiar gameplay experience, revolving around just two recurring stages.
The first stage, often regarded as the 'action' phase, places you in control of a car navigating a relatively open environment dotted with collectible dots and three trees.
Your primary objective in this stage is to clear away the spikes obstructing the wall that divides you from Doraemon. This is accomplished by collecting the above mentioned dots, a task complicated by the presence of persistent enemies eager to thwart your progress.
The second stage takes on a somewhat bonus-like quality, though it introduces a twist that can complicate matters. In this stage, you assume the role of Doraemon and toss a heart-shaped object skyward towards various characters, including fellow Doraemon characters and the enemies featured in the first screen.
Striking Doraemon himself yields the highest point reward, while hitting another character results in their appearance as an additional enemy in the action stage (and the lowest point reward, but I don't think this matters much, lol).
For me, assessing this game has always proven somewhat challenging due to its dual nature - simplistic yet oddly unusual. On the whole, it falls into the category of mediocrity (even by then standards), marked by repetitiveness and minimal replay value.
However, the nostalgic allure of Doraemon, a beloved character for many fans of the anime (including myself), is undeniably a major draw for those with a fondness for the blue cat.
