DOS Shareware vs. Steam F2P #01 - Combat Checkers v. SimplyChess
Combat Checkers definitely feels dated but is an interesting take on Checkers. Definitely needs refinement but you can create your own pieces. I'm torn on this one. I love the creativity yet found the execution lacking. Rating = 2.5 out of 5 (Borderline)
Simply Chess is well.. simply chess! It's quite polished looking in a low budget indie sort of way. Controller support is included. Local, online, and asynchronous multiplayer are included. You must create an account to play, which is concerning to me if the central server goes down. You can play against the AI. Might have to bring your own friends because matchmaking didn't result in a single match for me personally. Altogether, it's a solid chess game, with a 2d and 3d board, controller support, and somewhat detailed instructions. It's a relatively soft recommend, but a recommend nonetheless. Rating = 3.5 out of 5 (Recommend)
