0:09 -- Knotwood Hills
2:23, after crossing the wooden walkway in Knotwood Hills, you'll find a chest containing alcohol for Oghren and a note. The note triggers the quest Long Buried Past. 2:42, once you enter the chasm, you'll be attacked by some Deepstalkers. South from where you face them, you'll find a bag containing Micah's Lucky Deer Foot. You can deliver it to him in Amaranthine for XP.
3:26 -- Sigrun
You'll rescue Sigrun from Darkspawn as you approach the end of the chasm to reach Kal'Hirol. Sigrun is a Rogue that starts out with Dual-Wielding weapon talents. She likes odd/common-item gifts such as: Snowglode, Potted Plant, Soap on a Rope, Toy Chariot, Spyglass. She also like the book Warrior's Heart since it discusses the Grey Wardens and the Legion of the Dead. She has a strong moral compass and sense of duty, but she also has a sense of humor. NOTE: Make sure to do her companion quest before starting Smuggler's Run or Law and Order in Amaranthine.
10:01 -- Ancient Boots and Whetstone
After crossing the bridge by the waterfall in Kal'Hirol, you'll find a crate containing the Ancient Boots. It and other ancient/broken items you find can be repaired by a golem in Kal'Hirol. The armor pieces are components of the armor of Hirol. 10:03, after battling another set of Darkspawn, but before entering the fortress, you'll find a Whetstone for Nathaniel in a crate.
12:45 -- Fortress Entrance
If you go in through the front, you'll face many fire traps and an emissary that animates four golems. If you take the side entrance like Sigrun recommends, you'll be a good position to kill the emissary quickly and remove the Golems from the battle. IMPORTANT: loot the emissary for Flawless Rubies. Keep one of them; you need a Flawless Ruby for A Master's Work.
18:05 -- Kal'Hirol Commons
Eventually, you'll reach the haunted town-like portion of Kal'Hirol. You'll find interesting stuff in the side rooms. 18:47, you'll find the Cracked Breastplate by looting a skeleton in the first side room. 19:30, you'll eventually bump into another talking Darkspawn, a disciple. Kill it and its backup. 21:51, in another side room, you'll find a glowing skeleton, loot it for Lyrium Sand, which is something you need for the quest Bombs Away back at Vigil's Keep. 22:57, near the previous and after kill some spiders, you'll find a chest containing the Lyrium Ring, a plot item gift for the companion Justice. 23:25, before entering the Trade Quarter, there's a final room in the North that contains an emissary; kill the Darkspawn and loot the Shattered Maul from the emissary.
24:39 -- Kal'Hirol Trade Quarter
The Trade Quarter is a very busy area since its a large space with many rooms and warring Darkspawn. In the first large chamber, heading North leads to a sacrophagus you can loot and some golems you can kill for XP, 25:15. 27:24, in the south-east, you'll find a large plaque that you can interact with to start the quest Memories of the Stone, and you can loot Partha and a Broken Sword from Dailan's corpse. 29:05, before heading down the stairs in the North-East, enter a side tunnel to find Silver Braces for Anders by looting a skeletons and to find another pile of Lyrium Sand for Bombs Away. 29:38, downstairs, you'll find the forge; loot the Iron Ore deposit here for the quest Elemental Requirments. You also find a Damaged Axe and a blacksmith Golem. Interacting with the Golem's anvil should result in you receiving 5 repaired items. 31:20, moving on, you'll encounter a man being held prisoner by the Darkspawn. He'll give you a Masterpiece Flame Rune with the hope that you'll set him free as a rescue. If Oghren is in the party, you can interact with an anvil in here to trigger some dialogue that can lead to approval points. 34:40, heading due south to a side room, you'll be able to unlock a sarcophagus for the Gauntlets of Hirol's Defense. You just need to swap the colored runes until each pedestal has a matching rune in front of it. 36:39, enter the next chamber and go south to find a treasure room contaning the Helm of Hirol's Defense. Now, the only goal left is to reach the Lower Reaches and kill the Broodmothers.
40:07 -- Lower Reaches
Before reaching the Broodmothers, you'll face off against the Lost and the Golem he commands, 40:33. Kill the Lost right away since he has less health than the Golem. That being said, this fight is similar to the fight against the Withered in that the enemy has high health but isn't very dangerous. IMPORTANT: loot the Lost for his staff. It's arguably the best one in the game. Also, loot the golem for it's shell as part of A Master's Work for Wade.
Now, 43:40, head to the Broodmothers' chamber, break the two chains supporting a Lyrium block, watch the block fall and blast the mothers, recruit Sigrun, and you're done!
