Dragon Age: Inquisition Technical Test (2024)
1A short video testing OBS recording Dragon Age: Inquisition at ultrawide 4K 3440 x 1440p 144Hz 10-bit color SDR on AW3423DW OLED 43:18 aspect ratio; DisplayPort via stock Nvidia RTX 4090 and Intel i9-13900KF; Windows 11.
Other notes; Auto HDR is Disabled in Windows and is not enforced via the Nvidia app or hardware. Auto HDR does work with this game but for this test I wanted to use the native SDR. Any HDR being applied to this video will be a result of the browser (Edge) applying its own HDR video enhancements during playback as per Windows OS stipulation OR as per video card hardware. HDR playback on YouTube can be captured with HEVC encoding and you will know this after full processing because the HDR label will be shown in the gear icon area while viewing. Edge and Chrome will play HDR on YouTube; Firefox will use SDR.
More notes: All settings in the game are set to Custom and maximum (Ultra or Fade Touched as applicable) including full HBAO. With exception of post-processing anti-aliasing which is disabled in favor of 4x MSAA as there is no visual benefit or purpose to using both simultaneously.
Yet more notes: no control panel options have been enforced; all settings are controlled via available options in-game. The Nvidia app Optimal settings are not enforced as although this is a 10-year old game the Nvidia "optimal" setting uses default specs resulting in poor quality lesser than what older hardware was running on 10 years ago. Auto-Detect using in-game settings or manually setting via options is recommended.
Final notes: this game, like Mass Effect Legendary Edition, does not respect widescreen when in cutscenes thus all cutscenes will appear at the normal aspect ratio 16:9 with black bars on right and left sides. During exploration and combat the full screen space is used as can be seen here in this technical test.
