Growing up as a kid in the 90's i was no stranger to Dragon Ball Z, it was super popular amongst all my friends, and although i had seen bits of episode here and there, its not something that i was ever drawn too personally. The art style, the super overpowered fight scenes and the general vibe of the show and the aesthetic of the characters were all stuff that i found off-putting at the time, but with all that being said, i always respected it's place in Japanese culture, and also just in general pop culture and even to this day, people still seen to absolutely love it, so why am i the anomaly?!
One person i know that also digs this show more than most people is my friend Jeremy AKA @TOKYO TOY BASTARD who recently sent me the first season on Blu-ray and tasked me with filming watch along/reaction videos of the first five episodes in the hopes that i would finally change my stance on the show, and to see if he could either turn me into a fan, or at least chance my perception of the show in general and hopefully help me gain a new found respect for a franchise that i was never that fussed about with but means so much to him personally.
Well guess what... It worked! consider me a full blown convert, right now I am so invested in the story that I am going to continue watching Dragon Ball Z and keep this series going a little longer!
So let's do this, join me as i watch the original Dragon Ball Z series for the first time ever and today I am checking out episode 26 titled 'Nappas Rampage'🍿🍿🍿
