Dragon Quest IX Playthrough #003, Observatory: Apus Major and Yggdrasil
This is video #003 in my playthrough of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. This video does not contain commentary. To view the commentary version, click here: http://youtu.be/3ImnrgPMduc
Heorot, our Celestrian hero, has just eavesdropped on a conversation between his mentor, Aquila, and Columba in the library on floor L2 of the Observatory. The northeast room of L2 contains treasures that we cannot get yet.
In the northern part of L2, Heorot reports to Apus Major, the grand poobah of the Celestrians (time index 2:47). It doesn't matter how Heorot answers his question. Apus Major directs Heorot to take his Benevolessence up to Yggdrasil, the Great World Tree, at the summit of the Observatory.
After the conversation, Heorot passes through the southern door and arrives outside (time index 5:38). On the Observatory's exterior, he can find a red chest in the northeast containing a Wakerobin (time index 6:48). He can find a red chest in the northwest corner containing 50 Gold (time index 8:54). On the western part of the circular structure, a red chest contains a Holy Water (time index 9:39).
At the stairs leading up, a Celestrian will bar Heorot's way if Heorot has not already spoken with Apus Major (time index 10:05). Since Heorot has done so, he can proceed upstairs. He will be on floor L3 of the Observatory.
Upstairs on floor L4, he advances to Yggdrasil (time index 12:48). A scene occurs when he chooses to offer up his Benevolessence. During the scene, Aquila arrives and speaks briefly. After the scene, Heorot can chat with Aquila. The correct answer is, "Yes."
Back inside, Heorot chats with Apus Major again (time index 15:59). Heorot's next task is to gather more Benevolessence in the Protectorate, i.e. the mortal world.
Some doors are now unlocked on floor L1. The most important room is directly underneath the stairway leading to L2; it can be entered from the north (time index 19:59). In this room, a red treasure chest contains a Seed of Life. Be sure to get it now or immediately upon returning to the Observatory!
Thanks for watching!
