Heorot and Stella have arrived in Stornway and met up with Patty and Erinn again at the inn. Now, he explores around the inn and then town.

Right outside the inn, Heorot can pop down a well (time index 2:54). At the bottom, a red chest contains some Linen Gloves. They offer better deftness than the Cotton Gloves he may have acquired.

West of the inn, a stairway leads down to a storage cellar (time index 3:21). There are pots, barrels, and a blue treasure chest down here with random treasures. If you get a Gleeban Groat, that can be sold for 100 Gold. The red chest here contains a Lambswool. The gentleman down here describes the difference between red and blue chests. Also, blue treasure chests are magically reloaded when the player saves and reloads the game.

A girl to the north mentions a shooting star she saw recently. I think that was our falling angel.

In the northwest corner between the two houses, a red chest contains Mini Medal #001 (time index 5:13). Hooray, our first Mini Medal! The wardrobe in the northeast house here may contain a random treasure.

The sign in the middle of town holds useful information about the situation in Stornway (time index 6:10). In fact, the incident seems to be the talk of the town. This incident sounds like it's right up our fallen Celestrian's alley!

After Heorot has talked around town a bit, he goes back into the inn (time index 8:22). Here, Patty will show Heorot what she can do. She has set up a counter called the Party Planning Place. This is where the player goes to create companions for Heorot! Like in Dragon Warrior III, the player can create comrades out of thin air. The player can also use the default companions, but what's the fun in that?

After Patty's explanation, Heorot calls up three companions: a female Thief named Debora, a male Priest named Angelo, and a female Mage named Jessica. The character creation is the same as the character creation at the beginning of the game.

When Heorot is through creating his party (time index 15:39), Patty teaches him a useful skill: Egg On. This skill allows him to boost the tension of one of his allies. Unfortunately, it won't work on him! It is a good idea to put spell-casters, like Priests and Mages, in the back row with the Misc. Tactics menu.

By talking to Erinn, Heorot can stay at the inn or canvas for guests. Canvassing for guests is a wifi feature, so I can't really show that off in this playthrough.

Also, if you have friends also playing Dragon Quest IX, you can talk to Pavo, the Celestrian at the east end of the main counter. He will allow you to invite other players into your DQ9 game or join another player's DQ9 game.

The Rainbow's End Gold Bank is in the southeast corner of the inn's lobby. There, Heorot can deposit his money in increments of 1,000 Gold. The money in the bank is safe in case the party falls in battle. I'm not too worried about this, as I don't plan to fall in battle.

After they are through at the inn, the new party heads northeast to the church to save the game.
