Mega Man VII [SNES] Playthrough #03, Freeze Man
This is video #03 in my playthrough of Mega Man VII. After the initial stage, where Dr. Wily was sprung from prison, Mega Man must start taking out the first four robot masters available. He starts with Freeze Man's chilling stage. This stage is a little tough for a starting stage, but it has a couple of bonuses that I want to get first.
When Mega Man reaches a spot where one ladder leads up and another leads down (time index 1:54), he can use the Rush Coil to leap up to the higher ladder. On the upper ledge to the left, he can grab the H circuit plate for the Super Adaptor. If you stand on the icy ledges too long, they will break. If you miss your chance to get it, you can always return to this stage later.
A few levels down, Mega Man will be able to cross some higher ledges (time index 2:43). It will be easier to cross them with the Rush Jet, but I would rather get this done now. At the end of this upper path, Mega Man will find the Rush Search, a valuable tool needed to find other items.
A little later on, Mega Man can defeat a polar bear robot to get an Energy Tank. He can only hold four of them in this game.
Right before the gate leading to the boss, Mega Man can use his new Rush Search to get the Exit (time index 5:10). If Mega Man returns to a stage that he has already completed, he can use the Exit to leave at any point.
At the end of the stage (time index 5:42), Mega Man faces one of the most chilling robot masters in the series, Freeze Man. Junk Man's Junk Shield makes him fairly easy, but you're in for a challenge if you use the Mega Buster. The ball of ice that he shoots at Mega Man can freeze the Blue Bomber solid, and if Mega Man is standing on the ground when Freeze Man throws ice on the ground, Mega Man will be rooted. Both states are troublesome. If Mega Man is charging the Mega Buster, keep the button pressed while taking a hit, or Mega Man will lose the charge.
At the end of the battle, Mega Man will acquire Freeze Man's weapon, the Freeze Cracker. A useful weapon that can be fired in several directions, and it breaks apart when it strikes a wall.
Thanks for watching!
