This is video #092 in my playthrough of Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride. This video does not contain commentary. To view the commentary version, click here: https://youtu.be/4MCdcydYg8Q
Previously, Madason, his kids, and Sancho succeeded in getting Zenithia out of the lake and flyable again. They can now use it as a sort of airship! This will help them reach their next location, Talon Tower on the southwest island.
So, they take the helm of the castle by stepping on the switch in the orb altar (time 0:42). It starts out above the lake south of Lofty Peak. Press a direction, and the castle will fly that way until you input another direction.
The party's destination is the mountainous island in the southwest of the world (time 1:34). The interior cannot be reached by ship or by carpet. Zenithia can only land on the small patch of desert in the west.
When they have landed, they can just head south and leave to return to the world map. The monsters on this island are really easy enemies from earlier in the game.
The party's destination is Talon Tower in the middle of the island (time 2:18). They will be right outside the front door, but they cannot get in. Instead, they will have to climb the exterior stairways and ladders all the way to the top of the tower. There, they will find a hook (time 3:23). Examining the hook, they can use the Grappling Hook to descend inside.
They will arrive in the top of the tower. They will have to make their way down a series of ladders and stairways to the bottom. An assortment of debuffing and buffing spells from the twins will go a long way to defeating the tough monsters here. Definitely try to silence the Balhibs and Silvapithecuses with Fizzle or a Staff of Antimagic. With large groups of Black Dragons, Insulatle is very helpful to mitigate their fire breath. Bring plenty of Elfin Elixirs from the casino to maintain MP. On the plus side, Balhibs drop over 1,000 gold apiece.
A couple of levels down, there is a chest containing Mini Medal #056 (time 5:45).
Down another level, the party can climb a ladder to talk to a priestess who is on her last legs (time 7:20). Two incredibly powerful monsters have arrived in search of things called Dragon's Eyes, eh? Good thing we're here!
While fighting enemies here, Lena, the Daughter, reaches Level 27 and learns Bounce (time 8:54).
A little later, Madason, A Hero's Father, reaches Level 31 (time 10:43).
A bit lower, the party will find another hook for the Grappling Hook. Down the southern stairs to the east, they can find a treasure chest with 2,700 gold (time 11:18).
From that chest, the next stairway down is immediately north of the southern stairway. It is hidden by the default camera angle.
On the last stairway to the bottom floor, there is a treasure chest containing a suit of Devil Armour (time 13:21). Despite its name, it is not cursed. Mason the Golem can make good use of it.
On the main floor of the tower, the party can move the lever to open up the front door (time 15:42). This will let them exit and rest if desired.
And in the northeast, there is a stairway down to the basement levels (time 16:09). Tougher enemies, Metal Dragons, will begin appearing here. B1 is pretty straightforward. The party can use Safe Passage to cross the poison safely, but there is not much that they actually have to cross.
Down the northwest stairs, they will arrive in the true maze on B2 (time 17:11). They start by heading north and then turning east.
While exploring this floor, Mason the Golem reaches Level 13 (time 18:19).
In the northeast, a stairway leads down to level B3 (time 19:13). To the south, they will find a chest that contains a Dark Shield (time 20:44). Another goody for Mason the Golem!
Then, they return upstairs to level B2 (time 21:53). They head back to the main stairway. Next, they will continue exploring the tower's basement.
Thanks for watching!
