We are currently in a New Game+ to earn outstanding trophies. Lightning has just arrived in the Wildlands. I split video #168 because the Wildlands arrival scene is likely to get the video monetized by Square-Enix.

After the introductory scenes, some Teleport destinations are unlocked, since this is a New Game+: Jagd Village, Aryas Village, and the Wildlands Research Camp. Not Poltae, though.

Past the turnstiles, a couple of passengers have info about Dr. Gysahl.

Of course, Chocolina is holding forth at the local Canvas of Prayers board (time 1:36). Lightning completes "Forget Me Not" and accepts "Digging Mole."

Then, she hoofs it over to Canopus Farms, killing enemies and gathering Moonsoul Blooms on the way.

At Canopus Farms, she introduces herself to Garrett, who is sort of the chief (time 7:40).

Then, she meets with the prickly Dr. Gysahl (time 9:31). What, a character who isn't lean, muscular, and partly barechested? Astounding! Anyway, it seems he, too, saw a strange vision.

Then, in the southwest of the village, she talks to Gysahl's assistant, Seven (time 12:03). He has info about the Angel of Valhalla. The chocobo's likely location will be marked on Lightning's map in the City of Ruins to the northeast.

Just outside the village to the northeast, there is a treasure ball (time 13:32). It upgrades Lightning's Imp's Crest to the Imp's Crest+. Now, it increases magic by 18% rather than the original 15%. Accessory upgrade #16.

The Hunter Chief can be found just inside the southern entrance to the City of Ruins (time 16:32). A very helpful fellow!

In the City of Ruins' open area, Lightning finds a Chocobo Eater getting ready to chow down on the Angel of Valhalla (time 22:31). Vile beast! To battle! Fortunately, the Chocobo Eater itself is badly injured from the fight.

After the battle, a somewhat sad scene tugs at the heartstrings (time 23:27). Let's hope the doc got to him in time. Well, time to head back to Canopus Farms.

Back at Canopus Farms, she checks in on the emergency procedure (time 30:53).

After the scene, she checks in with Dr. Gysahl about the patient (time 32:18). He wants her to try to feed the chocobo some Gysahl Greens. This activates the quest "Saving an Angel."

Fortunately, the Angel of Valhalla will accept food from Lightning's hand (time 33:22). The doc provides a hint on getting some goodies for the bird.

The innkeeper will give Lightning some Fuzzy Sheep Milk (time 35:32). Hopefully, the name means that the sheep are fuzzy, not the milk.

Sarala in the western garden will provide a bit of Gysahl Greens (time 36:45).

Just outside the village's western fence, Light can chat with the Hunter Chief for some Chocobull (time 37:40). Yay!

Afterwards, it is time to force-feed the Angel of Valhalla (time 38:11). Fortunately, she still has several Gysahl Greens and other things from the previous playthrough.

After a few feedings, the Angel of Valhalla is able to stand (time 40:05). This completes Dr. Gysahl's quest "Saving an Angel." Better yet, the chocobo can be ridden and will participate in battles.

However, the chocobo is not very strong yet, so it is time for another force-feeding session (time 41:45).

After a few more feedings, the Angel of Valhalla improves another level (time 42:48). His bandages come off, and he can now glide over gaps. This will allow Lightning to reach some hard-to-reach locations. Hope will tell Lightning about her next destination, Poltae, in the Rocky Crag area to the west.

At this point, the chocobo will be fairly useful in battle. He will have weak magic to help stagger enemies and weak curative magic to help Lightning.

He is not yet at full strength, though, so another round of force-feeding is in order (time 44:05).

After chowing down some more, the Angel of Valhalla improves to his best level (time 45:25). He will now prove to be a valuable partner in battle by using powerful magic to buff and cure Lightning and stagger the enemy. Best of all, his AI will choose the correct element for the enemy, even if that element is not in Lightning's setup.

Now, it is time to scour the Wildlands for treasures, starting with the north of the Grasslands.

At a Chaos Infusion, Lightning finds a Soul Seed (time 49:48). Soul Seed tally: 13.

In the northeast, she uses a broken bit of roadway as a ramp to get onto a pathway where a treasure ball is located (time 52:36). The treasure ball used to contain a Thunderbird Bracelet. Now, it holds 1,500 gil.

Next, Lightning will seek out the treasures in the Wildlands.
