Previously, the party agreed to help Prince Faaris deal with a monster threat in the Bakuraba Sand Dunes north of Samadii Kingdom. Sylvia has joined the party as a guest. They left off at the southwest campsite in Samadii Desert after doing some crafting.

North of the southwest campsite, the party talks to the soldier blocking the archway to Bakuraba Sand Dunes (time 3:12). Since the prince told him to expect them, he moves aside to let them through. The threat to the northeast is the Death Scorpion. The party continues on into Bakuraba Sand Dunes.

By a rock formation in the southwest of the dunes, there is a farming spot for Beast Bone (time 4:06).

In a battle, Veronica reaches Level 13 (time 5:58). She learns "Mahotoun", or Fizzle, which blocks enemies' spells; and "Io", or Bang, which hits all enemies. She gains 3 skill points for a total of 4. She spends the 4 skill points on the second Whip node, which increases attack power by 10 while she is wielding a whip.

On the western side of the desert ruins, there is a farming spot for Glass Frit (time 7:20).

In another battle, Senya reaches Level 13 (time 8:28). She learns "Piora", or Accelerate, which increases one party member's agility. She gains 3 skill points for a total of 4. She spends her 4 skill points on the second Spear node, which increases attack power by 10 while she is wielding a spear.

On the grassy shore southeast of the desert ruins, there is a farming spot for Sand Fruit (time 9:41).

The green crabs in this area are reminiscent of the crabs around Isis in DQ3, since they enjoy buffing themselves.

On the high ground southwest of the northern campsite, there is a chest containing a Hephaestus' Flame (time 12:19).

East of the chest, there is a farming spot for Savannah Water (time 13:42).

At the northern campsite, the party finds Prince Faaris and his retinue (time 14:21). The prince seems to be having a hard time walking through the desert. That evening, Senya tells Sylvia a little bit about their journey to find the Tree of Life.

In the morning, they wake to find that the prince and his retinue have gone on ahead (time 16:45). It is an excellent idea for the party to save before they continue on.

By a rock formation east of the campsite, the party finds a farming spot for Wing of Bat (time 19:42).

In a clearing, the party finds Prince Faaris and his retinue (time 20:03). The prince seems ready to give up, but then the Death Scorpion emerges from the sands! Sylvia taunts the cowering prince.

Then, as we hear the true boss battle theme for the first time, the party faces off with the Death Scorpion (time 21:33). The Death Scorpion has a multiple-slice attack and a guaranteed crit. It can lower the party's defense with Kasap. Its Sand Breath attack can damage the entire party and inflict Dazzle, or blindness. Worst of all, the light from the eyes on its back can confuse the party.

Thank heavens Sylvia is along as a guest character. He has Sobering Slap, which can cure a party member of sleep or confusion. Senya should focus on healing and on countering the Death Scorpion's sap by using Buff on everyone. Veronica can use Sap on the Death Scorpion and attack with Crack. Davilas should attack or serve as backup healer. Camus should attack.

At the end of the battle, Davilas reaches Level 14 (time 28:33). He gains 2 skill points for a total of 2. Camus reaches Level 14 and gains 2 skill points for a total of 4. Veronica reaches Level 14. She learns the spell "Manuuha". She gains 2 skill points for a total of 2.

Afterwards, another scene takes place (time 29:33). Sylvia ties up the baddy, and Prince Faaris comes out from hiding. He orders his men to load the scorpion onto the wagon. Despite Sylvia's taunting, Prince Faaris heads home with his prize. Sylvia bids the party adieu and heads off.

When they regain the control, the party earns the "Renkei Beginner" accolade for performing 10 Renkei moves (time 32:01).

At the northeast end of the map, there is a farming spot for Yellow Eye (time 32:24).

Then, the party zooms back to the southwest campsite (time 32:37). They rest and save here. Davilas's crafting level at the Mysterious Workbench increases once more. Next time, they will head back to Samadii Kingdom for the conclusion of the story events there.
