This is video #005 in my playthrough of Dragon Quest XI: 過ぎ去りし時を求めて (Echoes of an Elusive Age). I am playing the Japanese version for the Sony PlayStation 4. Previously, Davilas set out from Ishi Village towards Derukadaaru Kingdom. Midway through Derukadaaru Field, he found a camp where he could rest. These camps are an excellent addition to the series. Now, he will continue exploring the field as he makes his way north to Derukadaaru. The monsters north and east of the camp will be a bit tougher.

After resuming, he uses the bell to summon his horsey (time 0:44). He will first check out the area east of the camp.

In the tunnel to the east of the camp, there is a mining point (time 1:29). Here, he can find Copper Ore and Flintstones.

In the southeast tent, a pot contains a Chimaera Wing (time 4:01). The southeast route to the Deruka Costa is closed off right now.

In the north of the central-eastern section, there is a farming spot for Antidotal Herbs (time 6:07).

In the east of the central section, on the southern cliff overlooking the river, there is a farming spot for Flintstones (time 7:01).

On a fishing dock on the river, there is a barrel containing a Toad Oil (time 7:29).

In the east of the northern bank of the river, there is a farming spot for Fresh Water (time 8:23).

During the battles in this area, Davilas gets a tutorial on Zone attacks (time 8:44). A character randomly enters the Zone in battle. It lasts a few turns, it buffs up the character a little, and it carries over between battle. It will have additional uses when more party members are available.

In the northwest of the central section, there is a farming point for Cotton Blooms (time 10:49).

After a battle, Davilas reaches Level 5 (time 12:17). He learns the spell "Hoimi", or Heal. He also gains 3 skill points. We now gain access to the Skill Panel, a board evidently inspired by Final Fantasy XII's license grid. The protagonist's available skill trees include Swords to the left, Greatswords to the right, Sword Mastery at the top, and Courage at the bottom. Sword Mastery is only accessible when enough abilities have been unlocked in Swords and/or Greatswords. For now, he uses his 3 skill points to get the first Sword ability, Flame Slash. Flame Slash is a fire-elemental slash that costs 2 MP. As with the license grid, acquiring an ability will make the adjacent abilities available. There are also question-mark abilities that require a certain number of adjacent abilities to be unlocked before they can be made available.

Davilas continues to the northern section of Derukadaaru Field. Near the southern wall, there is a tree that he can shake (time 15:04). This lets him farm for Chimaera Wings and Beautiful Branches.

Across the bridge to the southeast, there is a farming spot for Beautiful Branches (time 16:58).

Behind a wall to the southeast of that, there is a chest containing a Single Phial (time 18:07). This item restores about 10 MP to a party member.

In the northwest, there is a harvesting point for Medicinal Herbs and Cotton Blooms (time 20:26).

To the north, Davilas heads into Derukadaaru Castle Town (time 21:53). This is the game's first good-sized town. There are plenty of townsfolk to chat with and pots and barrels to break. Davilas will start his treasure hunt in the inn, just northeast of the town entrance. Staying at the inn only costs 3 gold.

Upstairs in the inn, on the northern balcony, a barrel contains a Medicinal Herb (time 26:38).

In one of the inn's bedrooms, a pot contains some Thread (time 27:27).

In another bedroom, a wardrobe contains a Bandanna (time 27:48).

In the outdoor laundry area just east of the inn, a barrel contains a Chimaera Wing (time 28:21).

Along the church's northern exterior wall, a barrel contains 4 Gold (time 29:13).

Davilas saves at the church. Next time, he will continue exploring the town.
