Previously, Davilas reached Derukadaaru Castle. Unfortunately, the King claimed that Davilas was a child of the Demon King and had him locked up in the dungeons. Davilas's neighbor in the dungeon helped him escape. As they were fleeing through the sewers, though, they fell to the caverns below. Will they ever get to freedom?

Davilas resumes in the caverns under Derukadaaru Castle (time 0:33).

As they head in the only direction available, they come face-to-snout with a massive dragon (time 1:13). And he is not happy about visitors.

Afterwards, Davilas must flee the dragon (time 2:20). They will reach a jump down, but the dragon will follow them. Afterwards, the flight resumes. Best to ignore the monsters, including the Metal Slimes.

Another scene occurs soon afterwards (time 3:57). They get away from the dragon's fiery breath, only to run into more Derukadaaru soldiers. They emerge on a high ledge next to a waterfall. Their only escape is to jump. Before they do, Davilas's neighbor identifies himself as Kamyu/Camus.

Then, the opening titles play (time 7:10). Finally, after a few hours in. The player has the opportunity to save afterwards.

Next, Camus awakens Davilas in a country church in Derukadaaru Hills (time 10:08). Apparently, after their fall, the sister at this church fished them out and brought them here to rest. Camus suggests they pay their respects to the sister.

Upon regaining control, the player earns a new trophy for escaping from Derukadaaru (time 11:13).

In the church's bedroom, pots contain some thread and a Strong Medicine (time 12:00).

Out in the sanctuary, Davilas talks to the sister (time 12:30). She warns them about a couple of escaped prisoners. Heh, we don't know anything about that, do we? She also tells them that General Greg is out hunting the prisoners.

After the scene, Davilas goes outside to Derukadaaru Hills (time 14:09). Rather than heading to Ishi Village, Camus suggests they head north first to the slums of Derukadaaru Castle Town. There is something there that he needs to retrieve. He gives Davilas a cowl that does such a great job of disguising him. Then, before they set out, Camus joins the party!

Then, we get a tutorial on Renkei, or team abilities (time 15:57). Renkei are reminiscent of the double- and triple-techs in Chrono Trigger. When two characters are in Zone, they can execute a team ability from the Renkei menu. Camus joins at Level 5 with 3 skill points. He has four skills: Swords, Daggers, Boomerangs, and Thievery. The first available ability in Thievery is Nusumu, or Steal, so it is worth saving up for that. He comes with a dagger and a Wooden Boomerang. I will give him the boomerang.

Behind the church, one of the barrels contains a Single Phial (time 17:37).

Then, the party descends the well in the churchyard (time 17:58).

At the northern end of the well, a chest contains a Pointy Hat (time 18:16). This is an upgrade for either Davilas or Camus. I will let Camus have it.

Along the well's eastern path, there is a farming spot for small shells (time 18:52).

At the well's southern end, one of the pots contains some beast hide (time 19:13).

In the shade of the large tree outside the church, the party finds a soldier with a quest (time 19:51). He issues Quest 4: "Battle Recommendation" ("共闘のススメ"). He wants the party to use Camus's Renkei ability Shadow Attack, which is available when the protagonist and Camus are both in the Zone. Will do.

Afterwards, the party begins exploring the southern portion of Derukadaaru Hills.

During the exploration, Davilas reaches Level 6 (time 24:14). He gains 2 skill points. He currently only has 2, which are not enough for anything.

In the south of the area, the party finds a farming point for Sleeping Hibiscus (time 25:28).

Camus will not allow Davilas to take the southwest exit to Napugana Jungle yet (time 26:36). Bummer.

Shortly afterwards, Camus reaches Level 6 (time 27:36). He gains 2 skill points for a total of 5. That is still not quite enough to pick up the Steal ability.

Then, Camus finally gets his Zone concurrently with Davilas (time 29:51). He makes use of Shadow Attack for the quest.

Achievement of the quest objective is noted after the battle (time 30:41).

The description is continued after the comments.
