This is video #12 in my Dragon Warrior playthrough. After visiting the town of Cantlin and getting some information, Heorot leaves town and heads west to Hauksness (time index 2:45). Hauksness has definitely seen better days. Now, it is deserted and overrun with swampland and monsters.

You may remember from Cantlin that Wynn had a shop on the east side of Hauksness, and something was buried at the feet of a tree there. When Heorot reaches the tile just before the tree (time index 3:30), he heals himself.

When he steps on the tree's tile, a powerful monster appears: the Axe Knight. This enemy can rip the hero to shreds because it has the cheap Sleep spell in its arsenal. The hero should cast Stopspell on this foe to prevent it from using its magic. Unfortunately, it still hits very hard. The Heal spell is certainly beginning to wear thin. It will be a few levels yet before the hero learns Healmore, the upgrade to Heal.

When the Axe Knight is dead (time index 5:00), the hero should "Search" to unearth Erdrick's Armor. This is the best armor in the game, and it is a very nice piece of equipment. It has high defense, it heals one HP for each step taken, and it protects the hero from all damage floors. Very nice!

In the NES version of the game, the Axe Knight will respawn on that tree tile every time the hero steps on it. This will be my main means of leveling soon. Unfortunately, in the GameBoy Color version of the game, the Axe Knight will only appear there once, like a "real" boss.

After leaving Hauksness, Heorot heads back towards Cantlin. This time, however, he takes the southern bridge leading to the swamp south of Cantlin (time index 6:45). Using Gwaelin's Love, he navigates to the tile 70 south and 40 east of Tantegel Castle, which is in the eastern section of the swamp. Searching the ground here, the hero finds Erdrick's Token! Maybe now that old man in the Holy Shrine will be nice.

Next, he goes back north to Cantlin (time index 9:15). There is a man in the southern section of town, behind a bunch of damage floors. He tells Heorot to search for something 70 leagues south and 40 east of Tantegel Castle. Hey, we've already done this!

Heorot returns to Tantegel Castle. After resting, he heads back to the Holy Shrine south of the Swamp Cave and Rimuldar (time index 16:00). Since the hero has Erdrick's Token, the guy will combine the Rain Staff and the Stones of Sunlight to render the Rainbow Drop.

Then, the hero returns to Rimuldar and rests up. We are going to explore Castle Charlock to retrieve a pretty nice piece of equipment.
