Zelda: Majora's Mask Playthrough #026, Snowhead Temple (1/4): Map and Compass
This is video #026 in my Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask playthrough. Link climbs up Snowhead, first to the Fairy Fountain, where the Great Fairy has been broken up again, and then up to Snowhead Temple's entrance. Those White Boes along the way are best ignored, in my opinion.
In the entrance of Snowhead Temple (time index 2:45), a mass of White Boes will attack. They can be blasted quickly with a Goron Slam. To the north, Link can only move the block back as a Goron.
In the chamber to the north, after defeating the White Wolfos, there is only one way to go for now: to the east. In the room to the east (time index 3:55), there are three Freezards blowing their icy breath across a bridge. Down below, Link can grab two Stray Fairies on the other side of the lava. Stray Fairy #01 is trapped in a bubble below the ledge under the northern door. Stray Fairy #02 is in a bubble inside the central pillar. Its bubble can only be shot from the northwestern side because the walls on the other sides are invisible.
Back on the upper level, Link can only cross the bridge by rolling across as a Goron. Start rolling just as the first Freezard stops blowing its breath. Once across the bridge, Link takes the mask off and jumps to the northern exit, which goes upstairs.
In the small room upstairs (time index 6:13), there is a mouse with a bomb on its tail. This is a Real Bombchu. To destroy it easily, just bump it with the shield. Stray Fairy #03 is loose high in the room. Link only has to put on the Great Fairy Mask to reel it in. The Dungeon Map is in the chest up here.
Back downstairs, Link takes the western door, which is rimmed in blue, and arrives in the Snowhead Temple's cavernous main hall (time index 7:40). Yes, Link will have to climb ALL THE WAY up to the top level of this dungeon. But in the meantime, he takes the yellow-rimmed door to the west.
In the western room (time index 8:15), note the double block to the left with Majora's Mask logos. As a Goron, Link can pull this block out and then push it all the way west until it sinks down. A chest appears on a ledge above, hm. Link cannot get it just now. However, he can go into the nook that the double block had barricaded and collect a Small Key.
Back in the main hall, Link goes to the south exit. It is barricaded with ice, but Link can thaw it by shooting an arrow at it through the torch flame. Then, Link can go through the door back to the entrance hall.
After ignoring or killing the White Wolfos, Link turns right and goes into the west room off the entrance hall (time index 10:24). A couple more White Wolfos are in here. There is also a chest containing the dungeon's Compass. The cracked west wall can be blasted with the Blast Mask or a bomb. The stairway beyond takes Link upstairs to 2F.
Upstairs on 2F (time index 11:55), the room contains several platforms barricaded with ice. Link has to knock down icy stalactites to clear the platforms. In the southern wall, there is an alcove disguised by a fake wall that can be seen through with the Lens of Truth. Stray Fairy #04 is in a chest here. On the northern platform, Link can knock down the huge snowball as a Goron so he can grab a Small Key from the chest. There are also rupees on the platforms here.
With the shiny new key, Link can go through the locked east door (time index 15:15). First things first, in the depression, Link gets rid of the White Boes. In the ceiling, a fake ceiling panel sneakily hides Stray Fairy #05, who is trapped in a bubble. To get across to the door, Link has to pound the southwest switch, which raises a pillar to the east and blocks the door. After crossing to the eastern side of the pit, he pounds the northeast switch, which raises a pillar in the pit. Next, he smashes the southeast pillar to unblock the door. Finally, he climbs onto the green pillar in the pit and jumps across to the door. Whew!
Thanks for watching!
