0"Dragon's Lair" is a video game for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) based on the classic arcade game of the same name. It was developed by MotiveTime and published by Elite Systems in 1990.
The game follows the adventures of a brave knight named Dirk the Daring as he embarks on a perilous quest to rescue Princess Daphne from the clutches of the evil dragon Singe in his lair. The NES version is a side-scrolling action-adventure game that incorporates elements of the original arcade's animated gameplay.
Even though the plot is the same, the game abandons the arcade's quick-time event gameplay for conventional platforming mechanics. Players control Dirk the Daring through various treacherous stages, each filled with deadly traps, monsters, and hazards. Dirk now has equipped throwing knives to launch at enemies rather than using his sword, and the game features gold collectibles.
Graphically, the NES version is limited compared to the arcade original, but it replicates the distinctive art style of the game's iconic animated sequences.
The difficulty is extremly high, and the game's poor controls makes it even more difficult.
