Dreamcast reviews - REDREAM emulator on RetroPie - Raspberry Pi 4b 8GB.
expand for full description ... Welcome to our channel, Rea vlog. Filipina Foreigner Husband Philippines & Ireland. My husband would like to share some retro games footage !!
Hi all, Conor here ! This week we take a look at some of my favourite games on the SEGA Dreamcast. Emulation was performed via the REDREAM emulator on RetroPie, running on a Raspberry Pi 4b (8GB), recorded onto OBS at 25 frames a second, with no video shaders. For controls I used a generic Xbox 360 style USB controller.
Growing up I was a massive fan of SEGA arcade machines, especially the mid to late 90s titles that eventually wound up on the Dreamcast console. I did not buy one as I was worried SEGA would ditch it after a few years (like the 32X), but I did get the chance to borrow my cousins console for a few days & I was very impressed with the near arcade perfect versions of the games available.
Please note that if some of vidoes here seem to slowdown, it is because of the 25 frame a second recording rather than the hardware struggling. When you play directly off the Pi 4 to a television all the games play FLAWLESSLY ....
Virtua Fighter 3 - The first, and I think only time, I played this in an arcade was when my big sisters took me to SEGA World in London (1997). I was very impressed with the quality of the graphics the MODEL 3 system could produce, and the level designs themselves we very cool.
Dynamite Cop - I believe this is the sequel to Die Hard Arcade ... never got to play it until recently but it is alot of fun, with some great weapons & plenty of beat 'em up action.
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On - I played this on my trip to SEGA World also, the arcade cabinet itself looked like a jet cockpit with 2 joysticks & a wrap around screen. Such a unique game with quite awesome graphics.
Project Justice - The sequel to Rival Schools, this is a fun 3D fighting game with quirky Manga style graphics (that I am a big fan of !). Also has some tag team elements to keep it interesting.
Soul Calibur - Such awesome music in this game to match the very impressive graphics. I remember playing this in Davao City (2011) & some one on a linked arcade cabinet kept challenging me. I some how won 5 fights in a row & before I knew it a big crowd of school kids had gathered to cheer me on !
Daytona USA - I think this is the first SEGA racing game to have the 4 buttons to change views. I first played it in Salthill arcade in Galway (1995) & knew from then on a massive change in video games graphics was on the way.
Fighting Vipers 2 - I played this in an arcade in Barcelona (2003), I think it was the only 3D game they had in the whole place. Not too bad graphics wise & gameplay is addictive once you get the hang of it.
Marvel vs Capcom 2 - I had this on the original Xbox few years back, played it to death as the over the top special moves are great to watch. I kept hitting the character switch button for some reason, so the action is even more frantic than usual.
Power Stone 2 - This is a game I always heard about but never actually seen in an arcade. Frantic action and over the top visuals make for good fun.
House of the Dead 2 - I first played this in Blanchard's Town shopping center (1999), not a bad game but I was always more of a Time Crisis fan myself. You need a light gun to play properly, my marksmanship with a controller was terrible !
Dead or Alive 2 - Also had this on the original Xbox. Graphics are like a mixture of Virtua Fighter 3 & Soul Calibur, but the gameplay is a bit too button mash for my liking.
Virtua Striker 2 - I recall playing this in Gatwick Airport (2000) while waiting for a flight home, good enough game but no one ever seems to score a goal ....
