66Dreamfall the Longest Journey is a game that I own for a very long time, but never have completed it. The colorful style and unique world that the developers created has always spoken to me, so I am happy to finally say that I recorded the game and it is ready to be archived.
Back in college I had a classmate who recommended this game to me and I was so intrigued by how she lit up when talking about it. Apparently it had a great story and loveable characters and so I was reminded of that when playing this.
In Dreamfall the Longest Journey we play as multiple characters, but the main one is a woman called Zoe Castillo. She lives in South Africa and starts to see weird images on various tv screens throughout the day. It does not take long before we are transported to another world and get thrown into a conflict between various warring factions.
The game plays as an early 2000's adventure game where you have to walk around and talk to characters while also interacting with items in order to solve puzzles. What sets this adventure game apart is that there are also more action packed segments where you have to participate in melee combat or have to sneak around certain enemies to avoid getting spotted.
The main thing I loved about this game were indeed its original world and memorable characters. But more so the science fiction inspired places in real life. South Africa in the beginning looks so beautiful and vibrant and you just want to explore each nook and cranny to take in the experience. Some of the levels were a bit less interesting as they were dark and gloomy and mostly consisting of hallways. But overall I was very impressed with this game and since the story isn't over I cannot wait to see what Dreamfall Chapters will have in store for us!
