Dual 4K Monitor Dock For ONLY $60?!? From SAMS CLUB?!?
27One of the things that I have found necessary over the years is to have multiple monitors as I am creating thumbnails, editing videos, or working on projects. I have used dual monitors at my job for close to 10 years now, and really appreciate having the additional space to do so. At home, I have a 32-in and 27-in monitor to work off of, but the problem is I can only utilize one monitor at a time. I also work remotely one day out of the week, so connecting and disconnecting monitors is a bit of a hassle. On a recent trip to Sam's club, I noticed a USBC dock that features dual HDMI outputs, and USB 3.0 ports, and allows for PD charging via a USB-C port. Laptop docs typically run in the hundreds of dollars, so to be able to have a Dual 4K Monitor Dock For ONLY $60 I was definitely curious to try this out.
The unit really resembles a USB hub more than anything else, it just happens to have HDMI ports in addition to USB 3.0 ports. It also features an Ethernet port if you would like to use a wired connection for the internet, and one USB-C port. I was disappointed to learn that this is only a power input port, and cannot connect to any external device. I would really like to see a firmware update or something that would allow users to access this USB-C port as an IO port and not just a charging port. It really limits some of the functionality and frankly removes one of the USB ports from being usable.
I connected both HDMI cables for my monitors, My USB cable for my webcam, and my USB cable for my microphone. From here, I connected the short pigtail cable off of the dock to my USB-C port on my Republic of Gamers laptop running Windows 11. Configuration and installation of any drivers with seamless, my computer recognized this immediately. At least on Windows, I can say this is plug-and-play!
Whenever you plug in a new dock or adapter like this your computer will read it as a new display. As such, you'll have to go into your display configuration and change your settings from mirror on all displays to extend to all displays. Next, you'll have to adjust the positioning of your monitors within the display settings themselves. Once this was done, it was fairly seamless for me. Everything worked as normal, similar to the thunderbolt dock that I have in my office, but at 1/5 the price!

What could be improved:
- USB-C port only for charging
- USBC pigtail cable is far too short
- having another pair of USB-A connectors on the opposite side would be nice
Should you buy one?
If you go from having multiple monitors at an office and then only being able to work on a single screen on a laptop, you know the frustration that brings. Something like this really improves my productivity and makes it easier for me to get work done. For $60 this actually does a really nice job, even if the USBC port is limited in its functionality. If you do Photoshop work, video editing, or simply want to be able to have Netflix on one display while you're working on another, this is a nice device for the money. Is it perfect? No. But again, look at what you're getting for only $60.
